Mugshots of alleged Black Lives Matter shooters [PHOTOS]

Allen "Lance" Scarsella, 24, is accused of shooting at five Black Lives Matter protesters who had followed his group to their car. He was arrested when police arrived at his home in Bloomington the next morning.

Late Nov. 23, a group of armed masked men descended on the 4th Precinct occupation to film the encampment and stir up trouble, according to police. They taunted protesters, who tried to push them out. In the ensuing struggle, five protesters were shot.

The masked men — later identified as Joseph Backman, Nathan Gustavsson, Daniel Macey, and Allen Scarsella — allegedly left a trail of racist ramblings in online forums prior to the shooting. Scarsella is accused as the triggerman and has been charged with five counts of felony assault with a firearm. The other three are each charged with felony riot.

For more than two weeks following their arrest, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office withheld mugshots. First, the Sheriff's Office claimed that the photos weren't releasable because the men hadn't been charged. Then, it was because the case was too high profile. Then it was because they didn't want to compromise the investigation.

In any case, the mugs have finally been released.
