MPD cops swear off donuts, become personal trainers
Guess the old days of cigar-chomping and donut-eating are over.
The Minneapolis Police Department issued a press release today announcing that 30 officers will be certified as personal trainers. They've been working on the certification since February, and will wrap it up this weekend with three days of training. Two companies--Activ8 and Performance Unlimited--offered free training of the MPD personal trainers.
"Officers who are more active and healthier are less likely to be injured and use sick time than those who are not," said Officer Lisa Davis, a longtime fitness advocate and educator with the department, "Having on-site trainers available will provide an extra opportunity for our officers to make a commitment to themselves."
And we have to agree that fit cops are better than, um, fat cops.
