Minneapolis men pay restitution for mechanical gorilla beheading

itemprop

Remember the two idiotic Minneapolis men who were busted stealing the head off a mechanical gorilla in Appleton, Wis? Their prank cost them $1,949.50 each.

The men took a plea deal in the case. They are accused of taking the head off a mechanical gorilla outside Balloon Magic/Gorilla Grams last Thanksgiving weekend and causing $3,000 in damage.

Hopefully the gorilla head centerpiece in their dining room was well worth the hefty price.

More from WCCO:

Authorities said 24-year-old Jesse Varga and 28-year-old John Jenness Jr. caused about $3,000 damage when they took the head off the gorilla outside Balloon Magic/Gorilla Grams last Thanksgiving weekend.

At a hearing April 27, Jenness agreed to pay $1,949.50 in restitution and court costs in exchange for reducing the criminal charge of theft to a municipal violation. Varga agreed to the same deal and will enter his plea June 1, according to court documents.

A YouTube video and anonymous tip led police to Varga and Jenness.
