Minneapolis is one of the nerdiest cities in the country, study says
If Movoto's study can be believed, Minneapolis is the nerd capital of the Midwest.

A new study by Movoto concludes that Minneapolis is one of the nerdiest cities in the country.
That's well and good, but here's the real question: Is that something to be proud of?
Movoto's analysis pegged Minneapolis as the fifth-nerdiest city out of the 50 largest in the country, behind Atlanta (the nerdiest), Portland, Seattle, and Sacramento (fourth-nerdiest).
Here's the methodology Movoto used:
-- Number of annual comic book, video game, anime, and sci-fi / fantasy conventions
-- People per comic book store
-- People per video game store
-- People per traditional gaming store
-- People per computer store
-- People per bookstore
-- People per LARPing group
-- People per science museum
-- Distance to the nearest Renaissance faire
Some of those "nerdy" things are unquestionably cool -- after all, who doesn't love a good comic book -- but proximity to the Ren Fest? We suppose how you feel about that depends on whether you enjoy grotesquely gigantic turkey legs.
If you're curious, the rest of the top 10 (from six onward) is rounded out by Boston, Las Vegas (really?), Miami (really?), San Jose, and Denver.
