Minneapolis guns incidents, violent crime crept up in 2012
Gun incidents and violent crime are up slightly from 2011, but down from prior years.
Minneapolis police recorded 45 more incidents involving guns in 2012 than the year prior, marking the first uptick in at least six years, according to a new report based on police data.
Despite the minor increase, gun incidents are still down by 54 from 2010 and by 643 from 2007, the report shows. The number of reported gunshot victims also dropped by a single incident from 2011 to 2012.
