State Sen. Dan Hall went off on a rant last week about how "they ruined our neighborhoods with integration and segregation."
"I watched Minneapolis get destroyed, so I not only didn't want my kids in the school system," he said during debate on defunding integration programs in the state's urban school districts. "I took them out of Minneapolis."
"Destroyed?" A vibrant business, arts and culture, restaurant, sports, nightclub city can hardly be described as "destroyed,'" commenter Richard Molby said in retort.[jump]
"Are there neighborhoods that could used some cleaning up? Sure. Are there problems in the schools that could use tougher attention? Sure. Is there crime? Sure. But compare MInneapolis to any other city in America. If you come back and still think that Minneapolis has been "destroyed" you're quite the fool.
