Michelle Lund delivers baby in Perkins parking lot
A Chaska mom delivered baby No. 2 in a Perkins parking lot in Edina this weekend. She was hoping for a short labor, but this wasn't quite what she had in mind...
Michelle Lund said she started feeling labor pains around 3:15 p.m. at her Chaska home on Saturday. She and hubby Andrew headed up Highway 100 toward North Memorial Medical Center. But Michelle couldn't make it. So Andrew pulled over at Perkins.
Their nurse midwife met them there, and Michelle delivered a 10 1/2-lb. baby at about 6:15 p.m., in the front passenger seat of the family's minivan. Then they called 911 and an ambulance took mom and baby to the hospital.
Michelle says she can't wait to take the baby, Helen Varenna Lund, back to Perkins for a picture -- and maybe a breakfast special.
