On "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day," Michele Bachmann wanted to make sure she went on the record supporting the embattled fast food restaurant.

She released a video of her waving a bag of food from the restaurant while saying, "We are standing with the Cathys who stand with the family." Dan Cathy is the longtime president of the wildly successful chicken sandwich joint, which has three locations in Minnesota and is planning new ones in Maple Grove and Coon Rapids.

Cathy, of course, finds himself under fire for making controversial anti-gay marriage remarks. During a radio appearance in June, he said, "I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.' I pray God's mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about."

Then, last month, he characterized his restaurants as "very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit... We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles."

Cathy's comments were denounced by officials in gay-friendly cities like Chicago and San Francisco, with a Chicago alderman saying he'll do whatever he can to block Chick-fil-A from adding new locations in the city. Students in Mankato are circulating a petition demanding that school officials remove the campus Chick-fil-A from Minnesota State University. A "Customer Appreciation Day" counter-protest happened on August 1, and the company reported "unprecedented" sales that day.

At least one of those sales came courtesy of Bachmann, whose hobbies include hiding in bushes during gay rights rallies. Without further ado, here's her pro-Chick-fil-A proclamation:

Chick-fil-A: Standing with the family, at least until we get so fat we can't stand anymore.
