Michele Bachmann set for California paranoia tour
Michele Bachmann ought to feel right at home when she makes four speeches in California as a guest of the Eagle Forum, a paranoid right-wing group founded by anti-Equal Rights Amendment zealot Phyllis Schlafly.
Here's a group that sees evil conspiracies everywhere, from feminists, godless liberals, the U.N., gay folk, the global economy and people who don't speak English.
The website bahmannrocksca.com says that "Ms. Bachmann, a leading conservative from Minnesota and a regular featured guest on Fox News," will speak to four different groups in Irvine, Palm Springs and San Diego on May 14 and 15.
Her DFL-endorsed challenger in November, Tarryl Clark, used the news of Bachman's latest round of travels to hound her again on burnishing her national image at the expense of her constituents in District 6.
"Congresswoman Bachmann is once again taking her personal agenda on the road, making yet another trip to the West Coast - this time for a Tea Party-backed tour," she said in a statement.
"It begs the question, since she's so rarely seen in her own district: who does Michele Bachmann think she represents? Instead of pursuing rock star status at fundraisers and tea party rallies around the country, she should be pursuing results for the 6th District - a district with the state's highest unemployment and foreclosure rates."
