As we mentioned last night, Minneapolis cops got a big shoutout in Obama's speech last night. He said the stimulus keeps cops on the street.
"There are 57 police officers who are still on the streets of Minneapolis tonight because this plan prevented the layoffs their department was about to make."
Who would be against that? Minnesota Democrats Exposed, of course.
With all due respect Mr. President, there was never any reason for the jobs of these 57 officers to ever be in jeopardy, or to be a political prop by you and Mayor Rybak.
The truth is that there is a gluttony of wasteful spending that is occurring in the city of Minneapolis that could and more importantly should be the first on the chopping block during tough times. Everyone knows about the decorative fountains, but then there is also this, which I did mention yesterday, among others.
I'm just happy jobs will be preserved, and it's misleading to point to one or two examples of questionable spending without acknowledging that these projects come out of different pots of money.
