Manhunt on after man killed in South Minneapolis

Police are asking for tips after a South Minneapolis man was found dead in his house early this morning.

At 3:10 a.m., police responded to a 911 call from a house on the 2900 block of 45th Ave. Sgt. Steve McCarty said the call came from someone who found the male victim already dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim's name has not been released, and McCarty said police had no description of the suspect.

Police originally told KSTP that they believed the murder came after a struggle, perhaps resulting from a burglary in which the homeowner surprised the burglar, but have since retracted that statement.

Police are asking that anyone with information about the homicide call the TIPS line at 612-692-TIPS (8477).
