Man arrested for alleged South Minneapolis car, boat torching spree


A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an overnight car and boat torching spree in South Minneapolis. Between 11:45 p.m. Wednesday night and 12:45 a.m., there were reports of six cars and one boat on fire.

The man was found in the area of the crimes and arrested after one witness identified him as the arsonist. The man had a lighter and what looked like a new burn mark on his sweatshirt.

Three vehicles were set ablaze in the 3700 block of 23rd Avenue South, a boat in the 4000 block of 26th Avenue South, two vehicles in the 2700 block of East 42nd Street, and one vehicle in the 4200 block of 28th Avenue South.
The man was arrested and is awaiting charges.
