Lush co-founder Ty Hoffman is suspect in murder of former "life partner" Kelly Phillips
Ramsey County authorities announced this morning that 44-year-old Ty Hoffman is the suspect sought in connection with the brutal murder of Kelly Phillips at a Holiday Gas Station in Arden Hills yesterday, WCCO reports.
Five years ago, Hoffman and Phillips founded Lush Food Bar together. A Lavender article about the GLBT club's opening described the pair as "life partners."
But their romantic relationship, at least, appears to have broken down since then. A source tells us Phillips, 48, was engaged to be married to another man at the time of his murder. The Pioneer Press reports that man was booked into jail on suspicion of homicide yesterday, but released early this morning pending further investigation.
We called Ramsey County authorities seeking more information, but our voicemail hasn't been returned as this is published.
In addition to co-owning Lush, Phillips worked as an attorney with Boston Scientific.
Anyone with information about Hoffman's whereabouts is asked to call 651-266-7320 or 911.
