Kenneth Krause, personal injury lawyer, wrote letter to Jennifer Livingston calling her obese [PHOTO]
Ken Krause is an anti-obesity crusader. At least he has the physique to back it up.
The day after her four minute-plus on-air diatribe against a man who called her obese made headlines, La Crosse TV anchor Jennifer Livingston found herself on "CBS This Morning" today.
Livingston revealed that she challenged personal injury lawyer Kenneth Krause, the man who wrote the email expressing surprise that Livingston's "physical condition hasn't improved for many years," to come on the air and talk about it face-to-face with her. Unfortunately, Krause declined.
Brian Simpson, a friend of Livingston's who works for "The Morning Sickness" radio show on La Crosse's 95.7 FM, has also invited Krause to come on the show "and talk about his hatred for people who are a bit overweight."
"I sure hope [Krause's] wife, Michele, doesn't pack on a few pounds.....who knows what he'd do to her," Simpson writes in a Facebook post.
For Livingston (she's actually the sister of Office Space star Ron Livingston), the issue Krause's letter raised was primarily about bullying. But Krause views himself as some sort of public health crusader, as he makes plain in a statement he issued after the story went national.
Here's some of what he said:
Given this country's present epidemic of obesity and the many truly horrible diseases related thereto, and considering Jennifer Livingston's fortuitous position in the community, I hope she will finally take advantage of a rare and golden opportunity to influence the health and psychological well-being of Coulee Region children by transforming herself for all of her viewers to see over the next year, and, to that end, I would be absolutely pleased to offer Jennifer any advice or support she would be willing to accept.
During the CBS interview, Jennifer said she's struggled with her weight since she started having children a decade ago.
"If I could snap my fingers to be a size that I don't have to shop on the plus size rack that would be great, but I'm not ashamed of myself," Livingstone said during the CBS interview. "Talk to me about the stories I cover, not the way I look."
