Katrina Update: Hurricane crashes ashore, Superdome roof leaking rain
class=img_thumbleft>Hurricane Katrina reached land about an hour and a half ago near Empire, Louisiana , 55 miles southeast of New Orleans . The storm is moving north at 15 miles an hour and, while New Orleans will take a hit, coastal Mississippi is expected to bear the brunt of the storm. The latest news from CNN is that the roof of the Louisiana Superdome, a shelter for 10,000 residents who couldn't evacuate, is leaking rain.
