Karen Leuders was off her medication when she maimed her husband.

Karen Leuders, the Wisconsin woman who grabbed her hubby in the crotch and bit off his tongue while she sat on the toilet, won't be going to jail on a felony mayhem charge after all.

At first, the case sounded like an epic moment of aggressive romance. But a judge in the case ruled that while she was guilty of the crime, she was also out of her mind because she wasn't taking medication to ease her manic episodes.

Sheboygan cops found their way to the Leuderses' residence last December thanks to a 911 dispatcher who kept Willard Leuders mumbling on the line, tracing the call and trying to figure out what happened. [TRANSCRIPT]

When the cops arrived, they found Karen in the front yard singing Christmas songs, and Willard's piece of tongue in a cup. They rushed the man and his severed appendage to a hospital for emergency surgery, and arrested his wife.

On Tuesday, a judge ruled that Karen and Willard could continue to live together, but ordered Karen to continue outpatient treatment.
