I mention briefly that the Golden Gate Bridge is the country's most notorious suicide locale, attracting jumpers at a rate of roughly one every two weeks. Tad Friend explored this phenomenon in a marvelous 2003 piece for The New Yorker that's available online . The article was the inspiration for the 2006 documentary The Bridge .
