Jess McIntosh leaves Al Franken's office for EMILY'S List post
Sen. Al Franken has now lost a key staffer at his Capitol Hill offices. Jess McIntosh, his spokeswoman for three years, says she's moving on to deputy communications director with EMILY'S List, a national Democratic abortion rights group.
"I have counted Jess among my most trusted advisers, and I wish her the best at EMILY'S List," Franken said in a statement. "Jess's talent is battle-tested and will be put to great use in her new role."
McIntosh will be going to work for EMILY's List president Stephanie Schriock, who served as Franken's campaign manager in 2008, and through the recount against former GOP Sen. Norm Coleman.
Should be a solid mutual admiration society.
"I've respected EMILY'S List since I was old enough to wonder where the women in government were," McIntosh said in the official statement from her new employer. "Stephanie Schriock has built a smart, tenacious team and I'm proud to join them. I've helped candidates win some pretty tough fights, and I'm thrilled to bring my experience to EMILY's List to help elect more strong pro-choice Democratic women."
