A Wood County judge has sentenced a man to 10 years in prison on a mayhem charge for biting off part of a man's ear and lip in 2004. The criminal complaint said Strupp tried to date a woman but she didn't want a romantic relationship. SUN PRAIRIE -- Investigators say it was a tip about frequent bus trips from Texas to Sun Prairie that caused suspicion. Police had a tip about a Texas couple taking an awful lot of bus trips between that state and Sun Prairie, according to WMTV-TV. Police say 63 pounds of marijuana worth about $176,000 was found in the suspects' luggage.
Fishing contest winner accused of fish smuggling
SOMERSET - A northern Wisconsin ice fishing contest ended with a big turnaround Tuesday, after suspicions about the catch caused the grand prize -- a $27,000 Dodge pickup truck -- to go to the runner-up instead of the initial winner. TV cameras were rolling when he was asked what he would do with the grand prize and replied: "Drive it like it's stolen." But organizer John Montpetit said a tournament worker and an anonymous caller raised suspicions about the winner's soaked sweat shirt, and girls who sold refreshments told of the excessive amount of bottled water the man bought in the 14-degree weather.
Former teacher and school board member pleaded guilty to underage sex charge
A former teacher and school board member in Superior, Wis., has pleaded guilty to criminal sexual conduct involving a teenage boy. In court, Rehnstrand acknowledged that he knew the victim was 17 when Rehnstrand accompanied him on an overnight trip to Eden Prairie on Aug. 20, 2008.
