ISIS threatens Keith Ellison, other moderate Muslims

Does Keith Ellison look scared to you, ISIS?

Does Keith Ellison look scared to you, ISIS?

Keith Ellison doesn't think much of ISIS. In fact, he doesn't even like calling it ISIS.

They're not Islamic, says Ellison, and it's not a state. So he calls them "Daesh," a term that translates roughly to bigot barbarians. ISIS reportedly hates this term.

It fits. Not that anyone needed any more proof of this. But this week, an issue of the terrorist outfit's magazine — they have a magazine? — assigned credit for ISIS-affiliated attackers who killed 130 people in Paris last year, and 32 in bombings in Brussels last month.

In the same issue, the terrorists named a dozen moderate and prominent Muslims, including Ellison, as terrorist targets. The New York Daily News says Ellison and Huma Abedin, an aide and close confidante to Hillary Clinton, are described as "politically active apostates," as are a pair of Muslim members of the British Parliament.

ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi says that if their targets are "caught before they repent, then there is no amnesty for them and there shall be a painful — and fatal — punishment." Words not to be taken lightly from a group that routinely cuts off the heads of its enemies.

Then again, as Ellison himself has pointed out, you're probably more likely to get killed by a white spree shooter in America than you are an ISIS-inspired Muslim.

The Wall Street Journal says the screed identifies people like Ellison as "overt crusaders." And it's true. Lately, Ellison's been an over crusader for getting poor people cheaper diapers.

Keith, for his part, doesn't sound all that terrified by the terrorist threat.
— Rep. Keith Ellison (@keithellison) April 13, 2016 Nice try, Daesh. Now crawl back into your hole and get back to working on next month's magazine.

UPDATE: Later Wednesday, Ellison issued a statement in response to his making the ISIS hit list. His statement is pretty badass:

As millions of faithful Muslims flee Daesh’s imposed nightmare they call a ‘caliphate’, Daesh takes the time to threaten Muslim public servants in the West, like myself and my friend Huma Abedin. Daesh is a collection of liars, murderers, torturers, and rapists. No Muslim I know recognizes what they preach as Al-Islam. The fact that I’m on Daesh’s bad side means I am fighting for things like justice, tolerance, and a more inclusive world.
