Reader Erin Schaub responds to Advice: Don't call a black woman's hair 'an animal that can't be tamed':
This is insane. As a fellow stylist, you should be able to wash and flatiron anybody's hair.
I thought maybe she wanted a certain haircut on her highly textured curls (different than cutting on straight hair). But a shampoo, blowout and flatiron is something any stylist should have the technical skills to execute. And if you don't, admit it and don't place the blame on the client.
What a disgrace. We are here to make people look and feel beautiful, not to single them out and humiliate them. I'm happy so many stylists have reached out to her. Clearly Denny Kemp Salon needs to either train their stylists to have better customer service skills or not hire people like this in the first place.
