Hiker's mother pleads for group's release from Iranian detention
Five months have passed since three American hikers, one of them Pine City native Shane Bauer, were taken into custody in Iran after they allegedly strayed across its border with Iraq. Not long ago, we told you that the three, who also include Bauer's girlfriend Sarah Shourd, and friend Josh Fattal, may stand trial for espionage. Now, Shroud's mother has issued a new video plea for the group's release on its YouTube channel.
"Sarah, Shane and Josh are good people," Nora Shourd says. "They meant no harm to the Islamic Republic of Iran and respect your ancient and noble civilization. If they entered Iran, it was an innocent mistake."
