Green Bay PD explains why it outed Mpls cops for being racist, homophobic jerks [VIDEO]
MPD officers Thole and Powell berate a Green Bay cop during a June 29 incident that could cost them their jobs.
One of the unanswered questions surrounding the story of the two Minneapolis cops who outed themselves as racist, homophobic assholes in June in Green Bay was this -- why did the Green Bay PD release their names when neither was arrested?
The answer, according to an email written by Green Bay PD Internal Affairs Commander Lieutenant Kevin Warych, is that his department was simply treating the MPD as they'd want to be treated in a similar circumstance.
In correspondence between Warych and MPD Internal Affairs Commander Medaria Arradondo obtained by KSTP via a public records request, Warych wrote: "This is a sad situation for everyone involved. But as we talked, we would want to know how our officers acted if they were in a different city."
The "sad situation" he's referring to, of course, involved MPD officers Brian Thole and Shawn Powell calling black people "monkeys," dropping the N-bomb, and using a sexual slur about their boss, MPD Chief Janeé Harteau in an incident that was caught on a Green Bay police officer's dashboard cam. Here's the footage (unfortunately, the swears have been censored):
Thole and Powell have been removed from the SWAT team and placed on administrative leave pending the result of an internal investigation. Their behavior was characterized as "appalling" by both Harteau and Mayor R.T. Rybak, suggesting the two should probably start preparing themselves to turn in their badges.
