General Mills CEO Kendall Powell still makes more money than you

In financial times like these, with the headlines full of accounts of struggling restaurant workers, home foreclosures, and expiring unemployment benefits, it's nice to be reminded of how the other half lives.

That reminder comes today from General Mills, the processed-food titan based in Golden Valley, which just released its latest proxy statement. Included is a detailed account of how much GM's CEO, Kendall Powell, is paid for his labor: As the Business Journal reports, all told, that figure adds up to $12.3 million this year.

That's not all cash of course. Some of it is in stock. Some of it -- $44,827 -- is an allowance for personal travel. Powell even gets $15,000 for counseling on what to do with all the other money he's making.
