For Christ's sake, Florida
Everything is relative, apparently.
Nicholas Kozel for City Pages
Today, the Tampa Bay Times broke the news that the St. Petersburg's First Friday block party has been canceled because of bitterly cold weather.
Temperatures in the area are plummeting... all the way down to a low of 45.
"Because of the cold weather, tonight's First Friday St. Pete event has been canceled," the city of Tampa Bay wrote on its Facebook page.
Meanwhile, in Minneapolis, PETA-supporting ladies wearing lettuce bikinis did their thing on the Nicollet Mall yesterday while temperatures were about 50 degrees colder than they will be in Florida tonight.
If it hits 45 degrees here anytime soon, you can bet patios will open and people will take to the streets and trails as though they've been locked up inside for years. But in Florida, everything shuts down.
We don't know whether we should pound our chests in commemoration of our Minnesotan toughness, or move, to be honest.
