Flip Saunders hires Flip Saunders to coach Timberwolves: Top tweets
As Roger Daltrey of The Who once said, "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss..."
Yesterday, Flip Saunders -- the winningest, longest-tenured coach in Timberwolves history -- hired himself to become the new-old coach of the team. That's possible because Saunders was hired last summer by Glen Taylor to be the Wolves' President of Basketball Operations, which means he has the power to fire and hire coaches. And oh yeah, he's also part owner of the team. Maybe Flip can find some spare time to sell season ticket packages too? After all, with Kevin Love apparently no longer wanting any part of Minnesota, the sales staff can probably use all the help it can get.
Kevin Garnett takes a shot at T-Wolves management, and who can blame him?
Anyway, even if Flip really was the best man for the job, the nepotistically incestuous move (Flip is reportedly hiring former Wolves Sam Mitchell and Sidney Lowe to be his assistants!) was quintessential Taylor-era "country club" Timberwolves and left a lot of people with a sour taste. And as you'd expect, many of them took to Twitter to share their frustrations, humor, and analysis.
Below are the 10 most entertaining tweets we saw.
Bonus late-breaking honorable mention
10. Hey, it could've been worse...
Maybe David Kahn's big mistake was not hiring himself as coach. #twolves-- SBG (@stickandballguy) June 5, 2014
9. A lot of people felt this same sort of vague yuckiness
Flip hire like chemically engineered food. Can't put your finger on it, but it just tastes like hopelessness and despair. eim.-- canishoopus (@canishoopus) June 5, 2014
8. Remember when Dick Cheney led George W. Bush's effort to find a vice presidential candidate and ended up choosing himself?

7a. How we look to the national NBA media (spoiler alert: not good)
Flip Saunders is a head coach/team prez/part-owner??? Kudos to Glen Taylor - with Sterling gone, he's officially the NBA's worst owner. Wow.-- Bill Simmons (@BillSimmons) June 5, 2014
7b. Keep in mind Bill Simmons is purportedly tight with fellow Californian Kevin Love
To repeat: Flip Saunders has more power/equity/say than anyone else in the NBA - even Popovich, Doc, Spo + SVG! Flip Saunders!!!! WTF?????-- Bill Simmons (@BillSimmons) June 5, 2014
6. It can't be ruled out!
He could hit the Superfecta next year by being a player! RT @APkrawczynski: Flip is also a part-owner, so he's in a unique position here.-- Brandon Mileski (@BMileskiKFAN) June 5, 2014

5. Fans can only hope the Star Tribune's Wolves beat writer is on to something here
My take on Flip decision: It's not so he convinces Love to stay, it's he believes he'll get enough in return to want to coach this team-- Jerry Zgoda (@JerryZgoda) June 5, 2014
4. Oh, Wolves...
On a scale of Brad Lohaus to Tyrone Corbin, I give this Flip Saunders news 6 Michael Olowokandis.-- Steve Skavnak (@steveskavnak) June 5, 2014

1. But not quite as nice as this epic tweet from Minneapolis-based CBS NBA blogger Zach Harper:
