As about 1,400 workers looked on, a crane hoisted the final beam into place at Target Field earlier today, putting on the (almost) finishing touch on a structure two years in the making. Workers still have to install the stadium seats and finish the adjoining Target Plaza before opening day 2010. Everything appears to be on schedule and budget.
With its 101 x 57-foot scoreboard and massive Budweiser sign adorning the Minneapolis skyline, the edifice looks pretty impressive from our humble offices in the Warehouse District. So impressive, in fact, that we're almost willing to overlook the fact that 72 percent of $544 million project was paid for by unwitting
