Two college kids had this grand idea to create a houseboat and float down the Mississippi River. Well, that failed. They only made it a couple miles before their engine died and then the police chased them down for roping up on trees on the shore. Animal control seized their chickens and now their boat, the "Velvet Glove Cast in Iron," is sadly sitting in the Minneapolis impound lot.

NWA plane experiences problems suspected in Air France crash
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating a malfunction on a Northwest Airlines plane Tuesday that could have also caused the Air France plane crash near Brazil. The problem occurred on a flight from Hong Kong to Tokyo, but the plane made it safely to its destination.

St. Paul woman struck, killed by garbage truck while walking dog
A St. Paul resident was on her way to the park with her dog this morning when she was struck and killed by a garbage truck. The accident happened at about 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of 5th and Sibley Sts. The dog was unharmed.

Trader Joe's excites everyone except neighbors worried about traffic
People's heads are exploding with excitement now that St. Paul has its own Trader Joe's to please all grocery yuppies. But the grcoery stores are notorious for horrific parking lots that are much too small for car-centric Twin Cities residents. People will start walking regularly to get groceries when pigs fly.

Police shoot man after he allegedly shot woman in the face
Police injured a man after they responded to a call of a woman shot in the face in St. Paul. The man fled the scene and was eventually shot by police and taken into custody.
