End Notes

FAMILY SENSITIZED. This one came in too late for October's Body Count: WCCO-TV led off its relentlessly hyped "Family Sensitive" newscast Monday with lengthy excerpts from the video made by accused mother-daughter murderer Dallas Lee Thompson--concluding with Thompson's declaration, "I'M GOING TO KILL SOMEONE TONIGHT!" No problem, kiddies; 'CCO only shows the ensuing bloodletting in the late hours.

LET'S GO TO THE BACKYARD. Final sign of the apocalypse, TV division: 'CCO led its following newscast with a report on a fire underneath a manhole cover outside its "4 on the Mall Studios." Buried deep in the newscast: Thousands of Twin Citians may lose their jobs due to the just-announced merger between First Bank Systems, Inc. and California's First Interstate Bank.
