Minnesota Reps. Keith Ellison and Tim Walz were invited to an evening reception with President Obama and the First Lady at the White House Thursday.
The "bi-partisan" reception included three dozen members of the House (and their spouses). Only seven were Republicans.
Big events like this aren't always smooth. Ellison learned the hard way.
MinnPost caught up with Ellison as he was trying to get into the White House. He had some problems because he forgot his ID.
"I'm walking up there right now," Ellison told MinnPost as he headed towards the White House. "It's just a meet and greet, just his [the president's] way of reaching out to Congress."Here is the full list of attendees:
