It's Severe Weather Awareness Week and the most exciting day of the week is officially here: the day you get to pretend a tornado is coming. We've always thought these drills felt more like a torture experiment than severe weather preparedness. Maybe it's just looking around at the people you are crouching next to and realizing these are the last people on earth you want to die with.
The sirens will go off statewide at 1:45 p.m. A second siren will sound at 6:45 p.m. in three-quarters of Minnesota counties.
In addition to the reminder that tornado season is coming, you'll get a weather wake up call. Temperatures could hit 80 degrees today, which would be the highest temperature since Sept. 26.
Here comes summer! Just be thankful the mosquitoes haven't hit yet.
