Last fall Cormorant, Minn. citizens elected Duke, a seven-year-old Great Pyrenees, as their mayor in a landslide victory.

Since then he's become the small, northwestern Minnesota town's biggest celebrity, but he's experienced some slights along the way.

First Duke was bumped from a scheduled appearance on The Steve Harvey Show by Dr. Phil, and last week he lost out on The CW's first-ever "Dog of the Year" award to unofficial Milwaukee Brewers mascot Hank.

As you can see, Duke was unfazed by the loss.


When reached for comment yesterday he yawned, licked his lips and laid his head between his paws. Being mayor ain't easy.
