Dept. of thanks, but no thanks
The extent of the election fallout from John Kerry firmly inserting his hoof in his mouth remains to be seen, but the reaction has been immediate on the hustings.
Kerry was supposed to stump in Mankato today for Tim Walz, the surging DFLer who is taking on GOP incumbent Gil Gutknecht in the 1st Congressional District race. But late last night, the campaign issued its most terse press release of the year, with the headline "Senator Kerry Unable to Attend Mankato Rally":
U.S. Senator John Kerry will not appear in Mankato on November 1st with Tim Walz as previously scheduled.
Walz will still speak at the Taylor Center at Minnesota State University-Mankato at noon. Music by Martin Zellar will begin at 11:15 a.m.
