Comment of the Day: Can politicians walk and chew gum too?
Some argue politicians should accomplish world peace before dealing with "less important" issues.
Our post about Rep. Betty McCollum calling on Vikings owner Zygi Wilf to publicly denounce the Redskins nickname elicited a lot of comments of this sort:
But in response to that reasoning, Stefanie Megan Brown made a case that it just might be possible for politicians to work on more than one issue at once.
Not only that, but there's good reason for McCollum to be focused on the Redskins issue. Even though D.C. is obviously a long ways away from McCollum's congressional district, she's co-chair of the Congressional Native American Caucus. So it's not as though her letter to Wilf represents a politician wasting their time on issues that aren't of concern to constituents.
