Chris Kluwe signs with Oakland Raiders
Kluwe is taking his talents to the Bay Area.
Chris Kluwe's NFL career didn't end when he was released by the Minnesota Vikings.
Kluwe, 31, has inked a one-year deal to become the Oakland Raiders' punter. He'll be taking a pay cut -- his contract is for the league's minimum salary.
"I'm excited to be an Oakland Raider and be playing in California," Kluwe, who grew up in southern California before going to UCLA, told Fox Sports. "Now, my family can actually come to games."
Kluwe said he doesn't plan to tone down his outspoken, controversial personality now that he's back in Cali.
"I'm still going to be myself socially and continue to tweet and interact with my fans," Kluwe said, adding that he hopes to get involved in the fight to repeal Proposition 8, a ballot measure approved by California voters in 2008 that limits the definition of marriage in the state's constitution to one man and one woman.
He never wanted to leave Minnesota, but now that he's landed on his feet in Cali, Kluwe said he hopes to stick around.
"Hopefully, I'll be able to play for the next seven years and end my career in California," he told Fox Sports.
