St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman says he will be running for reelection in 2009, according to the Pioneer Press. In a letter to supporters, he made mention of the run and a fundraiser. More from his letter:
Serving the residents of Saint Paul as Mayor has been the greatest honor of my life. When we took office, we set out to move Saint Paul forward by improving learning opportunities for our children, investing in our neighborhoods, protecting the environment, expanding economic opportunity in Saint Paul and working to keep our City safe. We have made incredible progress during some of the most difficult economic climates in American history - and we have a lot to celebrate and be proud of. We have changed the way our city does business by investing in our values. But our work has only just begun. I'm pleased to tell you that I will be running for re-election of Mayor of Saint Paul in 2009.Coleman's name has been on an increasingly long DFL speculation list for governor in 2010. This announcement doesn't mean he won't consider a run for the position shortly after his potential reelection in St. Paul. Trying to run two elections at a time or back-to-back? Rough life for a politician.
