Little is known about the horrifically charred body found in St. Paul this morning

A little boy stumbled across a horrifically charred body in a St. Paul alley this morning.

We don't have much information about the bizarre scene yet, but St. Paul police said that a three-year-old boy discovered the body in the alley near the intersection of Westminster and Geranium around 8:30 a.m. The boy ran to get his parents, who called police.

So far, all that is known is that the body was so badly burned that police couldn't immediately identify the person. The body has been turned over to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's office.

"At this point, we are still trying to determine whether it's a man or a woman, and still trying to determine the person's identity," says Officer John Keating, of the St. Paul Police Department. "We're hoping that the autopsy will help us answer a number of questions, including who this person is and how this happened."

We'll update with more information as we get it.
