"I'm sorry sergeant that you had to come out here tonight for this," a blood-soaked Billy Nash told the cops when they found him in his North Minneapolis duplex near his dying wife.

"She was driving me crazy. I killed the bitch."

Now he's going to prison.

Nash pleaded guilty yesterday to stabbing 42-year-old Pauline Nash more than 70 times on April 2 in a rampage that started as an argument over money. He was caught after one of his children awoke at about 3 a.m. to the mother's screams, witnessed the attack, and ran to a neighbor's house to call 911. A second child managed to grab 47-year-old Billy's knife and flee. (Download a copy of the criminal complaint here.)

Nash was living at the duplex in the 2400 block of Penn Avenue N. despite a judge's no-contact order. He'd been released from Hennepin County jail just 10 days previously, after an arrest for beating his wife.

They'd been married 24 years, and had six children.

Homicide Location: 2400 block of Penn Ave. N.
