Augie's Murder Charges: Feud Ended with Jasmine Jones Shooting Lakisha Neal

Late this morning, 29-year-old Jasmine Jones was charged with second-degree murder for allegedly gunning down 32-year-old Lakisha Neal inside Augie's strip club in downtown Minneapolis around 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

A witness who knows Jones told authorities that Jones and Neal had been feuding for some time. But the criminal complaint says things escalated murderously at Augie's after Jones approached Neal, a single mother of a teenage daughter, and called her a "bitch."

Saturday Morning Was a Very Violent Time Along Hennepin Ave. in Downtown Minneapolis

The complaint details what allegedly happened next:
An altercation ensued between defendant and victim. Nightclub staff intervened and separated defendant and victim. The parties then moved towards the rear of the club. The witness reported defendant then pulled a handgun and shot victim one time [in the head] before fleeing the nightclub.
That version of events was corroborated by Augie's surveillance footage, the complaint says.

About eight hours later, Jones turned herself in. She brought along the 9-mm handgun allegedly used to gun down Neal.

Saturday night, friends and family of Neal held a peace rally outside Augie's, KARE 11 reports. Some attendees wondered how the shooter managed to smuggle a handgun into an establishment that has a metal detector. One of Neal's longtime friends told KARE that because the club doesn't have female bouncers, they didn't search the shooter's body, and that allowed her to bring a gun inside.
