The suspect, seen here on Walgreen's surveillance, was shot and killed last night.

The pursuit of a Duluth man wanted for a stolen car and armed robbery ended when the man was shot and killed by Duluth police last night.

The man first stole a car at gunpoint on Saturday night, and was then seen robbing a Walgreen's, having pointed a handgun at the pharmacist and demanding pills. The man got a nice car, and some pills, but didn't get much time to enjoy them.

Around 10:30 p.m. last night, police recognized the stolen car and chased it briefly, watching as the man crashed it. The same man seen on the surveillance tape, a balding white man, got out and ran on foot, but this also didn't last long.

Two police officers followed the man into a nearby house, where he confronted the cops and shot at them.

One officer returned fire, hitting and killing the suspect. A woman inside the house was also shot, but her injuries were not life-threatening.

Neither of the two police officers were injured in the shootout.

The identity of the man, whose spree started with the theft of a 2002 Infiniti near the same Walgreen's he robbed, has not been released.
