Andrew Sandstrom charged with manslaughter for leaving baby in hot van [MUGSHOT]
Andrew Sandstrom, the 24-year-old father of six who accidentally left his youngest child in a hot minivan for hours earlier this month, has been charged with second-degree manslaughter and faces up to 20 years in prison.
Five-month-old Christiana Sandstrom was pronounced dead outside a Moorhead apartment complex after spending about four hours in a minivan on the afternoon of June 11 while temperatures hovered around 80 degrees. Andrew unloaded her five siblings from the vehicle but forgot about Christiana.
Sandstrom just turned himself into police yesterday, but he wasn't on the lam. KSTP reports he's "cooperated with investigators and was given time to attend his daughter's burial and funeral services."
Last week, a judge ordered that the five other children Sandstrom has fathered with his wife, 27-year-old Shayna Sandstrom, be placed in foster care. The couple's apartment was found to contain "extreme filth" and be "unsafe for the other children" when police arrived following Christiana's death.
