Ahmed Ali's lawyer says prosecutor's Facebook post anti-Somali
OMG? TMI? Assistant Hennepin County attorney Gretchen Gray-Larson has been accused of posting anti-Somali comments on Facebook during the recent attempted murder trial of Ahmed Ali by the accused man's lawyer, Robert Lengeling.
Lengeling wants a new trial for Ali, who was recently convicted for his role in a shooting that wounded three people at the Cedar Riverside Plaza last summer, according to a story in the Strib. He filed a motion alleging prosecutorial misconduct on Tuesday.
"The posts concerned derogatory statements about people from Somalia, and that she felt comfortable with her case because of a juror who attended St. John's University," the motion said.
Deputy County Attorney Pat Diamond told the paper he's confident the conviction will stand, once sworn testimony and evidence are heard in open court.
