2-year-old dies in St. Paul fire that police are calling suspicious
St. Paul police said late Thursday the Blair Avenue house fire that claimed the life of a 2-year-old remains under investigation and is regarded as suspicious.
Three adult men and a four-year-old escaped from the blaze, which was reported at about 2:30 p.m. The men were treated and released from Regions Hospital. The 4-year-old remains hospitaized with what St. Paul police spokesman Sgt. Paul Schnell described in a statement as injuries that are not life threatening.
The State Fire Marshall's Office, as well as St. Paul fire and police arson investigators are looking into what caused the fire. The police homicide unit is also investigating.
Police want to talk with a man they know was at the home just before the fire was reported. He's not a suspect, Schnell said.
