WLTE switching to pop country station BUZ'N 102.9

If the fact that Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney's show at Target Field sold out in a mere four hours isn't enough to convince you that top-40 country is winning the populist vote here in the Twin Cities, this should do it: The snoozy longtime lite rock staple WLTE (102.9 Lite FM) will switch to an HD streaming station to make way for BUZ'N, which promises new releases and hits from artists like Taylor Swift, Chesney, Jason Aldean, Brad Paisley, the Band Perry, and Lady Antebellum.

CBS RADIO Minneapolis Senior Vice President/Market Manager Mick Anselmo

the company is adapting to the overwhelming popularity of radio-friendly country hits. "Country music is continuing to rise in popularity and its core artists have become recognizable to a broad audience of music fans," he says. "This immense interest in the format from a variety of different listening audiences and backgrounds makes it the perfect time to introduce Twins Cities listeners to this fresh new station and voice that is sure to keep them BUZ'N."

The switch to BUZ'N will take place on Monday, December 26 at 8 a.m.
