Just another day in the life of Wiz Khalifa. Early Sunday, Soundset organizers had reason to be nervous when the Pittsburgh rapper was arrested in El Paso, Texas. According to TMZ, about 0.5 grams of a "green leafy substance" was found on him during his TSA check before a flight to Dallas.

After he was taken into custody in El Paso, Khalifa started tweeting from his cell phone. It was less than 12 hours before his scheduled appearance, in the slot before headliners Atmosphere, at the sold-out Soundset Festival 2014 at Canterbury Park in Shakopee.

Wiz tweeted a shot of himself in a cell Sunday morning.

Right away, this mishap turned into the ideal opportunity to promote his forthcoming mixtape, #28 Grams.

After performing at the Neon Desert Music Festival the previous evening, Khalifa was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was released after posting $300 bail.

By 3 p.m., everything was right with the world, and Wiz announced he'd be getting to Soundset -- with not much time to spare. After Busta Rhymes pulled out last year, and Pusha T exited the lineup a few days before Soundset 2014, Wiz missing the show would've been a huge blow to the sold-out show.

Don't forget about the mixtape:

During Khalifa's energetic performance at Soundset, he took a break at about 7:30 p.m. to thank his dedicated fans in the middle of "Young, Wild & Free."

Next: Watch Wiz give a lengthy props to his fans.

"Y'all some free minds," he said to the crowd during a break in the song (at about 1:57 in the clip). "Y'all some creative young motherfuckers, man, and I'll ride for y'all. Like, shit, the same way y'all ride for me. The same way when y'all heard I was in that cell, and y'all went on Twitter and said 'Free Trap Wiz.' Y'all better believe I snuck my cell phone into there for that shit. I wasn't gonna miss out on the people who really care about me. That really want to see me do well, push me to the top. And that's what y'all do for each other. Keep that shit going on."

So a minor run-in with the law turned out to be the catalyst for the highlight of Soundset, and a killer promotional vehicle for #28 Grams, up for download here. More from the day coming soon.
