Wilco's Minnesota dates: Rochester and Duluth and that's it

Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy has no interest in falling into predictable patterns. Watch him smoke a cigarette out of his bellybutton in I Am Trying to Break Your Heart, the 2002 documentary about the band, if you don't believe. This carries over into his band's touring itinerary for the coming summer, as well.

Wilco has a pair of shows coming up in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, and they're serving the metro areas outside of the Twin Cities. In early July, residents of Rochester and Duluth will play host to the unpredictable Tweedy and band.

That said, it looks like Wilco could have their eyes on the Twin Cities for something big right around July 4 -- or possibly July 6, if the Basilica Block Party decided to entice the Chicago alt-country stars for a massive outdoor showing. We'll find that out for sure when the lineup is announced on April 20. Given that Wilco has a window of open dates on July 3-6 and their next show is in Sioux City, Iowa, there's quite the possibility that something's brewing. Either that, or they'll head back to the Windy City for the holiday.

Update: Or not. According to Wilco's press rep, "Please note that those are indeed Wilco's only two MN concerts this summer; the band will definitely not be performing at the Basilica Block Party (or any other concerts this summer in the Twin Cities.)"

Regardless, the July 1 gig at Duluth's Bayfront Festival Park, and the July 2 stop at Mayo Civic Center Auditorium in Rochester, should be broiling tickets in the months to come.

Pre-sale for both shows launches Wednesday at 10 a.m. General sales for the Duluth show follow on Friday at 10 a.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. signals the opening for Rochester general sales. Blitzen Trapper will open on both dates.
