Where to Dance on Thanksgiving Eve in the Twin Cities

Here's your chance to dance your ass off before stuffing your face with turkey all day on Thursday. Chances are that you'll be seeing more of your family this weekend than you want to, so take any excuse to get outta the house when you can. And even if you're not with the fam, use this opportunity to get down with your friends before Turkey Day.

Here are the top five Thanksgiving Eve dance parties.

Flip Phone: A Very Nicki Thanksgiving
Tagline: "Is your ANACONDA ready for THANKSGIVING? Join NICKI for an evening of THANKS."
Where: Honey
When: 9 p.m.
Cover: $5 (21+)
Why you should go: Nestled underground at Honey, this week's edition of Flip Phone is all about Ms. Minaj with DJ Feminist Killjoy and Doublestuff spinning tunes from today and the early aughts all night long. This also marks a special night for Flip Phone-loving vegans since the Herbivorous Butcher will be on hand with a late-night vegan sausage party.

Transmission: Annual Thanksgiving Eve Celebration
Tagline: "It's the night we gather to work up an appetite for the following day of intake."
Where: Varsity Theater
When: 9 p.m.
Cover: $6-$8 (21+)
Why you should go: DJ Jake Rudh's Transmission dance nights are a veritable institution in Minneapolis... and his annual pre-Thanksgiving blowouts are always a good time to catch up with friends and belt lyrics on the dance floor. There are plenty of oldies (and goodies) all night long -- from the Beatles and the Kinks to David Bowie and the Clash -- with some new stuff thrown in like the Strokes, Chvrches, and Daft Punk.

Drinksgiving with E.L.n.O., Mötel California, & DJ Mellow Magic
Tagline: "Or maybe I'm really talking about going out and getting so wrecked the night before Thanksgiving, that all you are capable of doing for that next beautiful day of gratitude and family fun, is eat like a pig, and watch part of a football game until you pass out."
Where: Lee's Liquor Lounge
When: 9 p.m.
Cover: $10 (21+)
Why you should go: If you like E.L.O. as much as we do, you're in for a treat. Plus, what better way to get your drink on than at the legendary Lee's Liquor Lounge? Get ready to raise your glasses and cans to toast the night's inspirations Jeff Lynne and E.L.O., Don Henley and the Eagles, and the music of... Yacht Rock? Sure, we'll go with it.

MiX: Thanksgiving
Tagline: "MiX is consistently the best party in town because YOU ARE THERE."
Where: Bar Lurcat
When: 6 p.m.
Cover: Free (21+)
Why you should go: This MiX is at the ultra-classy Bar Lurcat, but they're getting behind a classy cause this holiday season. Instead of a cover, they're looking for new, unwrapped toys and books to donate to Toys For Tots. (Donations aren't totally necessary, but try to spread a little holiday cheer, y'all.) There'll be drink specials all night long while DJs Shiek and Lenka Paris keep the music going for the longest-running LGBT happy hour-dance night in the metro.

The Stach Bache II: The Electric Boogaloo
Tagline: "Come ride on the mustache seesaw. Yeah, we have a mustache seesaw."
Where: The Pourhouse
When: 9 p.m.
Cover: $5 (21+)
Why you should go: There's going to be a mustache seesaw -- which you know is going to be a sight to behold, even if you don't dare mount that thing. DJ Dudley D, Ben Quam, and DJ Mad Mardigan will also be on hand all night long while y'all sport fake (or real!) mustaches and dance it out at this so-called "unofficial-official Movember celebration."
