Watch Prince's Eight-Minute Saturday Night Live Performance

Prince made a powerful return to the Chris Rock-hosted Saturday Night Live this past weekend with an eight-minute jam.

The Minneapolis pop, funk, and soul fusionist made sure that all of his talents were on display for his third official musical guest slot with the help of 3rdEyeGirl, Lianne La Havas, Liv Warfield, and other Paisley Park associates sharing the stage. He even sported a pair of his custom three-eye shades.

The performance featured three recent Prince/3rdEyeGirl songs: "Clouds" off Art Official Age, and two from Plectrumelectrum, "Marz" and "Anotherlove."

There were guitar heroics, harmonies, slick transitions, and plenty of gratuitous eye contact with the camera served up by the Purple One and his ensemble. Note around the 2:30 mark where he's playing guitar briefly without the instrument plugged in. Even if it wasn't planned that way, he made it look like it was built into the well-orchestrated set that felt brief, in spite of it being the longest one SNL has ever had.
