Uptown Pride Block Party returns in June

Uptown Pride Block Party returns in June
Tony Nelson

Okay, deep breath everybody. No one wants to jinx anything, but maybe--just maybe--spring has finally started here in Minnesota. And none too soon, either; after all, it's already almost time for block party season, when we can all spend our weekends wandering around in shorts and sipping cold beers. (Honest!)

With that in mind, there's one more date we can add to our soon-to-be full calendars: Friday, June 28, when the Uptown Pride Block Party returns to the Lyn-Lake neighborhood after a one-year hiatus. Foxy Tann once again serves as the event's emcee, while L'Assassins and Chastity Brown headline a slew of local music acts on the bill.
Taking place the same night that the Twin Cities Pride Festival kicks off, this will be the 8th installment of the Uptown Pride Block Party. Besides the headliners, festivities will also include music from Southside Desire, Sick of Sarah, Dykes Do Drag, and Epitome No Question, plus Tipsy Bike Karaoke and an appearance by the North Star Roller Girls.

As in years past, the block party--located outside Bryant Lake Bowl on Bryant Avenue--will be a zero-waste event, with proceeds going to OutFrontMN. Festivities run from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. and, of course, entry is free.
