Twins bro down with Sir Elton John — an omen for 'good things'?

We've heard of "Hold me closer, Tiny Dancer" ... but "Hold me closer, Trevor Plouffe"?

Which is to say: A handful of select Minnesota Twins players met knighted Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Elton John last night in Florida. The U.K. pop legend performed Wednesday at Germain Arena in Estero, about 30 minutes from Twins spring training HQ in Fort Myers.

Twins players Trevor Plouffe, Phil Hughes (who live-tweeted the "Johnny Boy" concert), buzz-cut Joe Mauer, and Brian Dozier got the opportunity to bro down with Elton backstage, as you can see in the above photo. So how'd the jocks meet John?

"DC Parmet, Elton’s tour manager, is a big Twins fan and extended an invitation and a few players took him up on the offer," Twins PR ace Dustin Morse tells City Pages. "They just enjoyed the show and of course met Sir Elton John."

The concert even offered prophetic insight for Hughes.
